Your GP surgery team is made up of a range of healthcare professional with the expertise to help you with your health needs.

Often the perception is that patients have to be treated by a doctor; however this is not always the case as doctors within your GP surgery are supported by a specialist team of nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists and pharmacists.

Care Navigators

Often a Care Navigator will be your first point of contact at the surgery. The Care Navigators are not medically trained, however they have all completed accredited Care Navigation training as well as in house training to enable to them to effectively navigate you to the most appropriate member of our clinical team. 

Our Care Navigators can also directly refer you to Stop Smoking Wales, Gwent Mental Health Consortium, Carers Wales and various other organisations! 

Practice Nurses

Our practice nurses provide direct and planned care for people of all ages within GP surgeries

Our Nurses provide the following services on the NHS. 

  • Respiratory Monitoring and Reviews

  • Diabetes Monitoring and Reviews

  • Coil Checks

  • Cervical Smears

  • Depot Contraception

  • Coil Removal

  • Contraceptive advice and checks

  • Stitch and Staple removal

  • Dressings and Wound Care

  • Anticoagulation Monitoring

  • Swabs

  • Biological Samples

  • Ear Syringing and Microsuction

  • Baby Immunisations

  • Some Travel Vaccinations and advice

Health Care Assistants

Our Health Care Assistants are a vital part of our team, supporting the Nurses and GP's. 

Our Health Care Assistants provide the following services on the NHS.
